Satellite Synchronisation

All different variation of Quantum Data Loggers are fitted with their own permanently attached Satellite Aerial that is used for synchronisation of the Data Logger with the CP Interrupters and for accurate time and date logging as well as location and satellite information. The high synchronisation accuracy of all equipment allows the time intervals logged to be used to synchronise electrical events occurring on the pipeline. (DC Traction, Tellurics etc., Interference)

To get the most accurate data, Quantum Data Loggers should be used with specific satellite synchronised Interrupters that use the same method of synchronisation as the Quantum.

DCVG Interrupters Specifically Designed to Work with Quantum Data Loggers

Four different types of CP Current Interrupters are available from PIM but only three are specific to the Quantum Equipment.

Variation 2
Satellite Synchronised Interrupter for one pass combined DCVG/CIPS Surveys using Quantum Equipment. Operated at DCVG Pulse Frequency only. (0.45 seconds ON, 0.8 seconds OFF)

Variation 3
Satellite Synchronised Interrupter for DCVG/CIPS Surveys. Operated at selected ON/OFF switching sequences.
A) For straight DCVG or combined DCVG/CIPS 0.45 seconds ON, 0.8 seconds OFF (1.25 second sequence)
B) DCVG (reverse) 0.8 seconds ON, 0.45 seconds OFF (1.25 second sequence)
C) DCVG (reverse) 1.6 seconds ON, 0.9 seconds OFF (2.5 second sequence)
D) Conventional CIPS 3 seconds ON, 2 seconds OFF (5 second sequence), or
E) Conventional CIPS 4 seconds ON, 1 second OFF (5 second sequence)

Satellite Synchronisation every 5 seconds.

Variation 4
Satellite Synchronised Interrupter for DCVG/CIPS Surveys. Operated at the same selected ON/OFF switching sequences as Variation 3 but with a 4 channel built in Data Logging capability to record all satellite information, time, location, current T/R output, switching sequence local pipe to soil potentials etc. This type of Interrupter is capable of proving detailed data capable of being used to study interference and to settle any timing disputes that arise with CIPS equipment that is currently ignored or remains unresolved at present by all technique operators.

Variation 1
Unsynchronised Interrupter for analogue DCVG Surveys. DCVG Pulse Frequency only. Not for use with CIPS equipment.

Note:- All Interrupters are fitted with 150 Amp solid state switch. The 150 Amp to include Spikes caused when Rectifiers are switched ON/OFF. All Interrupters except variation 1 have their own permanently connected Satellite aerial.
